He also cited in his petition the court conviction of Marcos for non-filing of Income Tax Return for several years, making him not eligible to hold any public office. Mangelen insisted then that he is still the duly elected chairman of the party. He argued that Marcos’s Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (Cona) is "unauthorized, defective, invalid, and void,” noting it was not approved by him. In December, Mangelen filed a petition before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) against Marcos’s certificate of candidacy. He was replaced by presidential candidate, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who took oath as the party chairman on October 5, 2021, a day before he filed his candidacy for the May 2022 national elections. Bongbong Marcos is now chairman of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, which nominated him as its standard-bearer for the 2022 elections.Mangelen was ousted by the PFP in September. President-elect Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.’s political party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), spent a total of P272 million in campaign funds, according to a submitted Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) filed by the party before the Commission on Elections on Monday. In a campaign rally in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte on Wednesday, March 30, Mangeken said also one of the reasons for his support to Moreno was the mayor’s effort to establish an Islamic Cemetery in Manila. Partido Federal ng Pilipinas is a national political party approved by the Commission on Elections in 2018 with 1.5 million members nationwide.

“He is the candidate whose vision of governance fit to the core values and key thrust agenda of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas on anti-corruption, anti-illegal drugs, anti-criminality and anti-poverty,” the resolution read.
